Oil flare

Normally energy companies shy away from shots like this one--the "flare" releases dangerously high pressures by burning off excess gases, but in this energy- and pollution-conscious world it can be a PR nightmare. In this case, however, the company specifically asked me to capture the impact of a massive flare. This particular flare was one of the biggest I'd ever seen, so loud it was deafening even at a distance and so hot that it raised the air temperature at least 20 degrees even 50 meters away. I emphasized the power and danger of the flare by shooting in the semi-dusk, making sure I captured the massive water sprays intended to cool things off.
